*New Release & Review* Piece of Work by Staci Hart

POW-ReleaseBlitzcover-powPiece of Work, an all-new sexy romance from Staci Hart, is LIVE!

Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum.
His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim.
You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me know.
But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.
And maybe my heart.

Dot's Dirty Deets:

What do I say about Ms. Hart's masterpiece? It was brilliant. It was inspiring. It was moving. It was everything that I wanted and more in a book. There is nothing I love more than a woman gaining confidence and taking names while she's doing it.

Not to give away too much of the storyline, but Rin!! Yes, Rin! Yes! Way to take charge and kick ass while doing it. She is the heroine of all heroines. I could relate to her on so many levels. Always wanting to blend in with the crowd, but still sticking out like a sore thumb. Always wanting to not be noticed, but failing miserably. Rin was me in a way. And that is what made it relatable. Her friends. Everyone should have friends like her and all of them need their own stories ::COUGH::COUGH::

Court? Can I have a Court for myself? He's sexy. Assertive. Bossy. Smart. Oh, so smart. Can I please have in a wrapped up box, on display, in my room, only for my viewing pleasure. I loved his internal conflict with being with Rin. But that is all I can say. Because..spoilers.

I laughed, I cringed, I got a little weepy, I felt this book. What drink should you drink while reading this? Something smooth. Maybe a little cognac? I don't know. I don't drink that stuff.  So, maybe? Read it! Enjoy it! Love it!

About the Staci

StaciHartStaci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Love. Who needs that? Who would want that? Who hasn't had their heart split in two, because they were never their first option, and damn sure their second. I have. But I stayed. Why did I stay? It was love. I wanted to finally feel that I was wanted. It didn't matter if he thought I was worthless. It didn't matter if he degraded me, because he felt like it. Any love is better than no love...right?

Hawkins
Every day, I'm haunted and tormented. When, I look in the mirror I see a failure. A failure that let people that needed me down. I worry that it will happen again. If it happens to the people I care about the most, I don't think I could live with myself. Can I put my torturous past behind me and start to enjoy life? Especially now that I have a reason to live it?

This is where I tell you that you need to walk away from this review if you do not want this book spoiled for you. But, before you close out of it, please do me a favor and buy this. I promise, it will entertain you, pull at your heart strings and have you cursing out the characters.

So, the plot of this story, right? Hmm..where do I start? Boy meets girl, girl and boy both chase each other away and then finally find their happy ending together. But there is so much more than that. I know, it is a typical plot and a little rushed for my liking (which is why I gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars), but for what it is worth, the layers and complexity of the characters did it for me. And Marie Skye is climbing up to be a top 5 favorite author. Yes, that is pretty big, I know. And it kind of sounds weird that I gave this book a 4.5 and it is sealing her standing on my list, right? Well, I'm not to be understood.

I just wanted a little more. What that is? I am not too sure. It took me a day to read it. So, that means I didn't want to put it down. (And NOT because my review was due!) I actually finished last night, but was too tired to type this out and needed a moment to process. Enough about me.

My new hashtag for this book is #canihaveaHawkinsplease

Oh, layers...I love when authors write more about minor characters from other books (but only when I have read those books ha!). And I am getting the weird idea that we will see more of these folks.

Set Me Free by M.R. Leahy

Rating: 5 out of 5
Recommend: Yes (adult audience only)
Book one of a series not released yet

Blurb:
Set Me Free is a dark romance
I do not advise anyone who is sensitive to certain subjects or sexual situations to read it as it does contain certain situations.

Set Me Free
Torn and betrayed by her family, Emmalyn is taken and forced to live with her mother and stepfather, who happens to be the leader of one of the biggest sex trafficking rings around.

Thrown into a world of sex and slavery, Emmalyn is roomed with Kodah. A hot-headed boy, whose only weakness is her.

Both lost and tortured in this endless hell, they cling to the hope that one day they will make it out, that one day they will be set free.

Let me just say...whoa. And if you don't like to read about sex trafficking of children, this is not for you. At all.

My general take on this book:
It was really interesting to read. I could not put it down...Wait, let me back up. I received this book as a giveaway and I am so glad I did. So, I could not put this book down. My eyes were heavy and I kept thinking, "just one more chapter." Well, one more turned into two...you know how that story goes. If not, what are you reading? This book was sexy, dark, interesting, action packed, heart breaking and left me with a cliff hanger. I was so upset when I learned that there wasn't a book 2 yet. Oh MY GOODNESS! Why didn't anyone tell me. I was caught up in the storyline so heavily that I almost cried when I figured this out. But you should read it. I swear.

Me Before You By Jojo Moyes

Rating: 4 out of 5
Recommend read? Yes

I picked up this book because the movie preview intrigued me. I do not know why I do this to myself. Books to movies are NEVER ever the same. After reading, I watched a few more previews and *sigh*, I found several things that were not true to the book. But, oh well, I will be going to see it once it releases on June 3rd.

It took me about a day and a half to read this. I could not put it down because it kept me wanting to know more. I fell in love with Will Traynor. Was it empathy or sympathy? I'm not too sure. But I was pulling for him the entire time. Maybe it was my connection to the disabled. My mom was restricted to a wheelchair when I was younger, so reading about this character who found himself in one, touched a place in my heart.

Will was full of life. He went on many adventures that included traveling, skydiving, and anything that I probably would never have the balls to do! Until one day, he was involved in a motorcycle accident. Life changed for him. He was at the end of his ropes. After an incident, his mother decided that she would hire a caretaker for him in addition to his nurse. Cue Louisa Clark. She had just lost her job at a local cafe and needed to find something quick to help her family pay bills. After a few bad experiences at jobs she was placed at, she went to interview for the caretaker position. This is the story of the six months they had with one another.

It is hard to give a summary without giving too much away. I loved the story, but I hated the ending, which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 rating. I would recommend this book. Honestly, go read it now. Drop what you're doing and fall in love with these two. This book made me smile, laugh and cry. Even though I can tell the movie has been altered a bit from the book's story line, I would say go see that too.
